Day 27: Sedona to Tucson, Arizona

Waking up to the sun rising over the canyons in Sedona was breathtaking. Breakfast was eaten around 6:30 this morning with a spread to choose from. Waffles, eggs, bacon, potatoes and pastries were the main choices for the travelers. After breakfast, we went back to our rooms to pack our things up before heading out on the Pink Jeep Tour of Sedona. Travelers made their own groups as we had 11 jeeps to fill up and the counselors split among them. The tour took us through the Bear Wallow Canyon on an old busted up road which consists mostly of dirt and boulders now. The road used to connect Sedona to Flagstaff but now is used solely for recreational off-roading. About half way up we stopped to take in the canyon and over view of Sedona. A fun fact about Sedona is that no buildings can be over 2 stories tall, they have to be earthly colors and no fluorescent light can be omitted as it produces light pollution. Crazy but awesome, huh? Our turn around point was Kodak Corner which was named due to the awesome picture opportunity of Sedona. Once back at the hotel we loaded up and headed to Tucson.

A pit stop for lunch was taken in Phoenix where there was a Whataburger, McDonald’s, Java Juice, Port a Sub and Rosati’s pizza for us to choose from. Some chose to step into Best Buy to purchase dvd for the ride. Once we got into Tucson, we found our rooms and headed for the pool where we enjoyed the pool, hot tub and dinner. Hotdogs, baked beans, potato salad and watermelon were served for dinner. Then the travelers had a little free time before a 9:00 o’clock curfew.
