Hooray for time to sleep in! Today, group activities started later. There was a continental breakfast served from 6:30-9:30AM that most of the group indulged in. Some utilized the late morning to sleep and others to explore the Fisherman’s Wharf area. At 11:30 we boarded the buses and ventured across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco to Oakland, CA. We attended the baseball game in Oakland and had the pleasure of watching the Oakland A’s beat the San Diego Padres in the last inning.
Upon returning to the hotel the crew was allowed to split up in groups to get instructions for the free time they would be given the next day. They spread out in groups in the Fisherman’s Wharf area for dinner on their own and a little free time.
We reconvened at the hotel to walk as a group to a place to watch fireworks over the Bay. The crew huddled on a pier (most were not prepared for the cold weather) and awaited the firework display. Promptly at 9:30PM the first boom was heard as cries of excitement went up from the crowd! It was an amazing show set to the chorus of "ohhs and ahhs" created by the crowd. What a perfect way to end a good American Independence Day!
