Day 2: St.Louis, MO

Day 2 was a hot one but at least we were able to catch up on a little sleep this morning from a long day one. Continental breakfast was served from 7 a.m. till loading time at 10:15 a.m., which included eggs, ham, bacon, biscuits and gravy, fruit and pretty much anything else you could ask for. All travelers came down, ate breakfast and had time to go back to their rooms, clean up and get ready to depart. O’Fallon, Illinois was the first destination. Conversations were sparked, music was sang, friendships were starting to be evident and before they knew it it was lunch time.

Upon arrival in O’Fallon, travelers were able to choose from several spots to eat lunch, then of course we all had to make a pit stop at Target to pick up a few things up.

A short ride with full bellies and we were approaching St. Louis, Missouri also known as the Gateway to the West!!! Pulling into downtown got a little tricky as we only made one detour before parking at City Place Hotel. The Riverboat Ride down the Mississippi River was the first destination here. For those who chose to wear light colored clothes today, they were able to stay a little cooler than the others as it was hot on the boat. The boat captain did a great job of informing the travelers on sites and locations in St.Louis seen from the longest river in America.

A short walk to the Gateway Arch where nerves and excitement began to rise we found ourselves in groups of 5 piling into a tram bucket with a 4 minute ride to the top. The view from the top was breath taking, from views of the city, the Cardinal’s ballpark to the countryside on the other side of the Mississippi River. A movie on how the Arch was built was the last item on the agenda before dinner.

A delicious dinner was served at the Old Spaghetti Factory with a choice of Spaghetti or Alfredo with Spumoni for dessert. A scenic walk back past the Gateway Arch led us back to the hotel for the night.
